Quite frankly- the way its been going over here, I'm not surprised. This is Jersey after all and not some proper democracy. I wouldn't be surprised if Jersey was providing arms to the IRA. I think the way ordinary folk are treated over here is disgusting and I think the way the oligarchy behave is also disgusting. I am ashamed to say I come from Jersey.

Don't be afraid to say you are from Jersey, my husband and children are Jersey born I've only been here 40 odd years so not quite local yet :-).
You are not responsible for the corruption that it allowed to continue in this island, the powers that be are.
All that anyone can do it to keep letting others know how we are being treated, inform them of what is going on here, and try to get justice for those who were abused!
Get the bad ones out of the States in a non violent manner, and then make sure all rules apply equally to all people.

saw a documentary this evening .Investigative journalist looking into the gravy train of M.P's .Excessive claims for expenses, fees for lobbying etc etc
Much has been written on press last few weeks on this matter . I assume we all knew that all this goes on,but perhaps not to the extend that has been revealed . Could it be as a result of the recession that the average man on the street now is turning and demanding more accountability, from the people who are there to represent us ,and not to serve their own interests ?
What goes on in Jersey is only a reflection of what is mirrored elsewhere in many ways .
seems like the tides are turning everywhere, and as more and more people are feeling the squeeze they are looking and demanding answers. The peasants are revolting ,or so it would seem !!

The thing being that Jersey being so small everyone know when is going n, it is really a matter of getting it sorted out. Hopefully one day this will happen. :-)

Unfortunately when you want to reply, the media won't let you and so the lies are accepted as fact. The OBC is alive and kicking in Jersey, that is a fact and heaven help you if you cross them!

I was surprised that BBC radio Jersey in a mid morning segment mentioned the Mail/Harper thing ,and even made the comment about the rife corruption, thought it unusal for them ,as they normally like to sit on the fence on matters which might upset the hierarchy.

The OBC is alive and kicking in Jersey, that is a fact and heaven help you if you cross them! as an example of bad reporting ,think it was on BBC southwest this evening . the young reporter did an item regarding domestic abuse in Guernsey ,he said abuse is up 70% on previous years . Now that sounds a hell of a lot and a serious increase. as we know statistics are easy to manipulate,so to put it in context ,how many cases are we talking about, they did not reveal those figures ? Perhaps the were 10 original cases ,and it up 70% ,we are talking about 7 more cases ,than normal Could be many reasons why this has happened i.e more women are reporting cases ,or could just be that they have extra clerical staff who are keeping better figures than in previous years . To the average viewer, they would be alarmed at those sort of increased percentages quoted, but there are so many variables to how they got to this figure. Have to read between the lines of anything like that ,and question why they did not quote actual numbers ,so we would have a real understanding of how serious something is .

It does make one wonder. See they through out the debate in the States today, typical and quite disgusting! I see my blog isn't listed on here, just wondering why? Anyway going out for a coffee now, have fun, will be back later

Perhaps it is time that a group of you got together and started lobbying Westminster.
There is something truly amiss on your island and it is time the Westminster Government were made aware of how the true islanders feel in a loud voice. This could be done by an epetition to Gordon Brown. I am sure you would gain support from all over the world.
The fiasco of todays States meeting was yet again an example of the elite sticking together and failing to address the serious nature of the motion.

The JEP are manipulating the replies on "This is Jersey" by deleting replies according to how they wish the consensus of opinion to appear to lie.
I personally tried to reply positively (totally uncontraversial - simply "well done - totally agree" and along those lines to Mr Chartier who wrote a letter very similar to mine re SS's arrest at least 8 times. Each time my reply was zapped. There was very little support for his letter of mine although normally the usual suspects are in total agreement with what I write.
Then Richard Farnham has his personal attack printed and blow me down - almost unanimous support for his diatribe.
When I try to set the record straight (although he appears to be able to call me a liar with impunity) my replies are either zapped or so censored as to hardly make any sense.
My conclusion: the JEP are manipulating public opinion, trying to make it appear as though thre is support / condemnation for certain issues when in fact this may not be the case at all.
Not surprising I guess since Frank Walker is the owner of the Guiton Group and an ex-sparring partner of mine.
I used to believe SS was exaggerating when he spoke out against the JEP but I now feel quite differently.
The only problem is, if one boycotts such websites, how do you contest downright lies and draw peoples' attention to the serious issues? People keep telling me to stop writing to the JEP and not make any comments but then aren't I playing into their hands? What do you think?
