Senator Stuart Syvret arrested!"Senator Stuart Syvret has been arrested. Police picked him up at an address in Grouville at just after nine this morning. He's currently in police custody while investigations continue. He's helping them with their enquiries into alleged offences committed under the Data Protection Law. It's believed he could face charges under article 55 - 'unlawfully obtaining documents and unlawfully disclosing them.' Senator Syvret's lawyers have criticised the police saying their actions were heavy handed. According to Advocate Philip Sinel - the raid involved four police cars and eight officers and was 'clearly designed to intimdate both him and others'. The lawyers go on to say 'there was no warning in respect of this raid and they are now turning his home inside out. He also suspects that they will take the opportunity to plant covert listening devices.' Senator Syvret also alleges his arrest is politically motived. And he says if he's not released he'll be making a bail application in the Magistrate's Court" One rule for Stuart, another for all the other DP lawbreakers previously!

Dear Sir
I was most disappointed that you decided to edit my reply to Mr Farnham as I believed the JEP was supposed to be impartial.
Mr Farnham is related to a nominator of an establishment candidate who employed as a PR person, the man who threatened me and my family at one of the hustings. The candidate's sister, who was sitting next to Mr Farnham and this PR person, then used the same threats against me. I did not march across to her - she was sitting across the aisle and I merely stood up and told her I would not be threatened - at no time did I even raise my voice - how this is interpreted as aggressive is beyond me - I believe threats are far more aggressive.
This same PR person is closely connected to a certain part of the local media who then seized upon a totally insignificant unnewsworthy item and made it into a comedy sketch because he had an axe to grind as I also stood up to him and showed him up to be what he was - a bully, and he was embarrassed by this - expecting me to run and hide but I am too old for that sort of nonsense.
The hustings are democratically held public meetings where the public are entitled to voice their opinions and disagree with the candidates if they so choose. That the establishment candidates are so unused to opposition that they cannot tolerate it and employ bulllies to try to silence the opposition is undemocratic.
I am used to bullies, they used to be confined to the playground and as far as I am concerned do not have a place there either.
Reply to R Farnham's diatribe in the JEP tonight.
This letter will probably not be published as it does not appear that people who have been slandered in the press have a right to reply in Jersey.
