The BBC J website doesn't seem to be updated with much new these days. Is Ryan off sick or on hols?

No I'm still very much here - we're working towards a re-launch of the website and the move of our radio shows into the main iPlayer in the next two weeks.
That and behind the scenes stuff ahead of the election - and of course I've spent a chunk of today in a big yellow bear costume.

I don't think Emma should be criticized like this. She is new and obviously quite young and not from Jersey. Emma has had to fill in at a time when everyone including BBC Jersey is on high alert. Would you really prefer Matthew? He is unpopular. That's presumably why they don't give him his own show. Also it must be difficult for Emma to follow in Johns footsteps. John always had his witty remarks that showed his insight into the Jersey way. He could get away with it. My opinion but you can differ.

On reflection I'm not very proud of the personal content in my comment above, so I have removed it and offer my apologies. I won't abuse my mod powers by doing the same to revolution's comments, his views are his own and we are trying to allow freedom of speech here. If you do a "public-facing" job like Emma's, especially in broadcasting, you are exposing yourself to the risk of criticism and must expect it - no-one's perfect after all.
If we are paying for a service from our licence fee, I think we have every right to comment on how entertaining we think a show is. Part of that, for me, comes down to how she sounds on the air, but it's just her way so I'm feeling guilty for attacking that. She does actually come out with some good stuff here and there, it's just such a different pace to Roger that the contrast is jarring.

I would start a new thread but don't know how. I want to discuss Bridget on Talkback on Sunday. We all kno what she can be like but this time, even I was shocked by her comments. She was promoting the establishment beyond belief. Endless-'and just another thing' and another over the top remark. Although what she says is pretty tiresome and predictable, its the way she says it that gets me. Its very aloof. I find it rather odd for a vegetarian to be so conservative.

I have thought that about her as well .For all the work she does as a campaigner for animal rights, and her vegetarian lifestyle ,she is very very right wing. Have to give it to her ,she feels very passionate about what she believes and cares about. Takes all sorts I guess to make the world go around :-)

Someone here was talking about her the other day. I switch off for 5 minutes whenever she comes on (she's THAT annoying!) so I don't know what she's saying these days, but it was said that she's changed her tune in recent years? Was she left / center / critical of the states a few years back, but she's now really 'establishment'?
Someone said it's like she's being paid by the communications unit!

She does sound a lot more awake now, must be drinking more coffee or something I find the breakfast show quite acceptable now, though Mr U is still very sorely missed. It's never going to be as amusing without him. Now it's someone else's turn for a little criticism - Ms Mia Reakes. She talks so quietly she sounds like she's on the phone in a quiet waiting room and really doesn't want to be overheard. Really quite odd on the radio and TV! She's got a good clear voice when she does speak up, so please Mia don't be shy, let it out - but don't go to the opposite extreme and shout like some presenters I could mention who sound like they're shouting through a crowded bar to a microphone 20ft away ;D

I can't say he's my prefered choice of listening either, but they must be happy with him somehow I did enjoy Emma's Freudian slip about life yesterday, instead of "you get out what you put in" she came out with "you get in what you put out" ;D
