A couple of things in the JEP in the last few days have really annoyed me.
First there was the editorial piece that the green candidates had a one dimensional campaign. If they had read the web sites - the real manifestos, or taken note of all the answers of the questions at hustings they would have got a better picture. As far as I can see only green candidates had specific policy elements on culture or horticulture or oil dependency, or political diversity and a whole host of other things. more in fact than any of the 'winning' candidates that I can tell.
Second, a letter in the JEP tonight insinuating that despite promises and assurances unsuccessful senatorial candidates will be seeking deputy positions. I have said unequivocally I won't, as has Mike Pashley, and I think Chris Perkins. In fact my principal reason is that I think all positions should be elected on the same day - the very thing the write of that letter was complaining about.
I do think politics in this island would improve if people, the media , and journalists took the time to read and report all the facts, rather than jump to generalised conclusions based on partial evidence of second hand sources.

Yes its good to have Nick standing. We need more people who have the average person's interests and green issues at heart. Lets hope we have a clear out of the deputies who are pro-establishment. We need people centred states members in the states not rich/big business type people who are only interested in finance and big business.

I don't think they want to read everything, by not doing so the media find it easier to report using the Establishment Party line Not enough people are on the internet, and even if they where would many of them actually read everything, and in some case even understand a lot of it? If you haven't read it yet Stuarts blog is good today digg.com/politics/Jersey_Channel_Islands_Election_Special
