A large new open space in the heart of St Helier has taken another step forward. At the turn of the century islanders voted to develop the Gas Place car park into a Town Park. That wish could be just a couple of years away following a decision by the Council of Minister to support the idea of knocking down Ann Court and building a large multi-storey car park there. FROM CHANNEL TV The project could even include some residential units. If the proposals are accepted by the States, the car park will be opened some time in 2010. In keeping with a recent report on the regeneration of St Helier, the Ann Court multi-storey will open the way for creation of the town park on the Gas Place car park off Bath Street. And it could also mean closure and demolition of the Minden Place car park to create a new public square. www5.channelonline.tv/news/templates/jerseynews2.aspx?articleid=17062&zoneid=1What's your opinion? Should Minden car park stay?

Ah but, we're not allowed to own, enjoy, and park cars, are we? Our minority-elected know-it-alls don't like cars, despite the majority of islanders voting with their accelerator feet and driving them.
