After the Jersey crickets team disaster tour ,we have heard an annoucement from the Captain that he no longer wants to play for Jersey ,or play cricket ever again .
I believe cricket is a olly folly,an upper and middle class hobby .Just check out the Establishment types keen interest in it to confirm it for yourselves.
Why do we invest so money into the game over here,we have a full time cricket coach ,who is paid a great salary with lots of additional perks ,not to mention the other hangers on and funding they get to promote the game.?
Not to mention the extensive coverage,the BBC has invested OUR money in to report this farce.
And yet,we have the Disabled Gym club working with disadvantage kids who have been struggling desperately to get suitable premises from where they can to operate from on a regular basis.
These kids gain so much,self-esteem, stamina,social skills and sense of purpose through these activities.
They represent Jersey at competition level,and go on to win some very tough competitions around the World ,and are very proud of their achievements.
These are the people we should be looking after.We should ensure they get the facilities they deserve to continue .
What we have is them as a group, presently begging to get a building suitable enough to house the equipment they need,but to no avail .
