Listening to the news this morning, it was reported that the Bush Administration will NOT back a proposal to bail out the American banks to the tune of $700 billion.
At last they make a sound decision.
Why on earth should the taxpayer bail out these greedy vultures. The top brass of the banks have been lining their pockets for years with out any kind of regulation. Make them pay it back.
How would bailing out the banks help the man who is having his house repossessed.
If the Government want to help, they should buy the property and rearrange the man's mortgage to a sensible level.
The world markets have been hit badly by this news and there can be no doubt that this recession has a very long way to go. Jersey is lucky in one sense, because it has fore warning of these events.
We are in no way immune.
