So, he has shown his true colours. Yet another person who, apparently, will not openly support the child abuse investigation. What do you think? My opinion is that he wants to be to be Constable so much, he is frightened of the power held by others who could stop him.

In my opinion he was electioneering. He is a "team player", establishment through and through. Although he voted against GST to begin with, he then went and voted against any exemptions. When questioned by Livre Hodgetts about this vote, he gave "the party line" answer, that was to keep the threshold down at 3%. Very poor and very predicdable!!
Again when he was asked by an abuse victim if he "supported" the victims we got "the party line" answer, a little vague with a pinch of sympathy. It looks like he might be my next Paish Constable, roll on the hustings!!!

Gagged - I hope someone stands against Len for constable. Apart from his recent form he was also responsible for us losing the Jambart Lane proposal. If Len had not halted the process we would now have over half of our required sheltered/over 55's housing needs addressed. We would have had a permanent Battle shed. Parking for 120 cars for the Church, and Caldwell Hall instead of the dangerous congestion we have at the moment. Also a covenant restricting any further development to the North of the proposed sheltered housing units. Thanks to Len we lost the deal, incurred an extra £20,000 into a wasted study, and worst of all still no sheltered housing, or over 55's accomodation. He won't be getting my vote, this October

At this point in time, would appear he is the only contender for the position .Might not even go to an election if he gets in unopposed .For one of the biggest parishes, why are people so complacent,do they not really care, or do people think it is of no consequence to them .? Have we become so despondent that we feel we have no choice, business will continue as usual . Does he even live in the parish ?

I was told he doesn't live in the parish. I was also told, exept for St helier, you must live in the parish to be able to stand for Connetable, so I would suggest that means he does live here somewhere.
As the Connetable elections are before the Deputy elections, have you not thought of running Jez? If you don't get voted in at least it would give you a good dummy run for the deputy elections and if nothing else give us a hustings. As things stand it looks like he's going to get in unnaposed, so out with one "team player" and in with another job done!
Our Parish needs a radical shake up and encouraged participation from the working class parishioners. I can't see that being on his agenda!

When I lived in St Clement I used to see him on a bar stool at Le Hocq pub a lot of the time. Must live in walking distance

I would like to see these ex-officio members returned to their parishes. It's an idea suggested both by Sir Cecil Clothier, and some of the constables, themselves. As heads of the honourary system I would advocate they continue to do their good parochial work on a voluntary basis. (It would save half a million pounds annually) I have no objection to any constable standing down from his, or her position and standing as a States Deputy/Senator with a democratic mandate.
