I think I should study the odds, find one where I think he's wrong, and have a little flutter.

Anyone seen 'Honest Nev's' odds in the press, tonight? Ian Gorst 4/5 Gerard Baudains evens Anne Dupre 3/1 Philip Maguire 10/1 Jeremy Strickland 10/1 What do you think? read the manifesto of the lady candidate, and would personally give her 100/1.!! However, Jersey being Jersey, she will do well for many reasons, she is a woman ,she plays bowls, and has been well entrenched in the parish. She represents the middle class, average Joe who votes and runs the parish.

Jez.
From what I have experienced from the St Clements voters, manifesto's and good political knowledge and sense from the candidates is of no importance.
What matters to them is have you stuck some flowers on the Parish battle of flowers float? Do you go to church? Are you in the Blue Rinse Brigade?
They are just living in another world or time zone or something. I bet whoever gets voted in will be over the age of 55, will want any teenagers and children given life sentences for doing 31mph in a 30mph zone. Will want youngsters birched for making any kind of a noise after 7.pm etc. etc.
Honest Nev's forecasts are merely there to swing votes not predict them. If you are percieved to be any kind of a threat to the establishment you will get low odds from him. He's as predictable as the JEP.
My advice? get to the hairdresses, get yourself some flowers and a pot of glue, sign a petition to bring back the death penalty, dress a little bit funny and go to church and you'll be elected quicker than a politicians handshake!!
Should that fail, keep hold of that pot of glue, poor it into a carrier bag, inhale vast amounts of it, jump on a motorbike head for the nearest 30mph zone rev the balls off of it, take it up to 60mph and run over a church goer working on the battle of flowers float and wish to god you'd never signed that fuc-en petetion!!

Jez. My advice? get to the hairdresses, get yourself some flowers and a pot of glue, sign a petition to bring back the death penalty, dress a little bit funny and go to church and you'll be elected quicker than a politicians handshake!! ;D ;D ;D I believe that St Clement has become a very split parish. So why not have as in St Brelade,a St Clement no 1 and 2 district??The division is already there,so why not admit to it,and allow people to befully represented in this new district ? There is a very much an us and them mentality .Those that live where all the social housing is located i.e La Mare,Le Marais, Marina ave,Greve D'Azette etc. There are no community facilities around that part(excluding good Companions ),The parish hall and the sort of people that frequent and operate it ,are far removed from the majority of people who live in the St Clement no 2 l district. No attempts seem to be have made to sort this sub-divison. Perhaps it suits them to have it that way .? My opinion now is that there should be satellite facilities of some sort. Many elderly people do not drive ,parish hall is not exactly handy for them to attend events, not that I have noticed that many going on compared to some of the more rural parishes. Community events organised to cater for all,not just the selected ones ,that frequent the church ,"Young" Wives Club,or carry a pot of glue around August time . When you hear candidates talk about getting a bus stop in some remote part of the parish,or other insignificant issues, perhaps they should concentrate more on why there is this great divide? And how they can work to integrate the parish, and create a feeling of community and inclusivity which certainly does not happen at present . The parish hall should be the hub of local activity, doubt many in the 2nd St Clement district would have noticed anything geared towards them. We have no Doctors surgery here, compare that to St Brelade . Long trek into town on the bus for many of our elderly.

I take it that Mr.Gorst is the establishments' representive then if he has the shortest odds? Censored. It's not "Mr.Gorst" his correct title is "deputy Ian (GST28) Gorst. Your assumption that he may be the establishments representative, I would say without fear of much contradiction, is correct!!!

I stand corrected I hadn't even heard of him before. I must pay closer attention! I always use as rule of thumb the fact that anyone with odds on or low odds is establishment.

Commiserations, but well done for putting yourself forward. Shame there isn't a place for everyone who is interested in helping the island, but at least you can lobby on specific issues and play a part that way.

Unlucky mate, you deserved a seat. As I believe you will stand again you have two choices 1) mobilise the peasants or 2) get the glue bag out!!!
