No amount of money will compensate the victims for the abuse that they have suffered through the hands of some very sick people. But convictions can help some people move forward with their lives.
The abusers deserve so much more than prison, no matter how old of frail they are. Will they be punished?

Is it just me or has any body else noticed how quiet everything has got about the child abuse scandal?
I can understand it with the mainstream media because we all know who their paymasters are. But the forums are ever so quiet about it now and it has almost become a taboo subject.
Things like the Harcourt debacle, the balliffs political speeches, Walker shafting Jersey internationally all should be at the core of these forums and in the public domain now we are so close to the elections.
We have to remind our politicians we don't forget that easily.

I very much doubt it has been forgotten. It's the lack of news that leaves us very little to comment on. Even more so now that the elections are on.

Yeah, that's the thing, eastrock.
Don't forget, gagged, when the Bailiff made his speech, when Walker made his gaff, and when Haute de la Garenne exploded in both their faces, the storm of protest, disgust and dissent kicked up online was pretty phenomenal.
If this forum had existed when those events occurred, it'd no doubt include threads regarding all of those events - which of course people could continue to comment upon. The simple fact is that this forum came into being after those events had taken place, so no threads exist concerning them....and with the lack of news regarding those issues, nobody has yet started a thread focusing on them.

I posted this on PJ as well.
Reading this in tonight's JEP I wondered if it was connected to the enquiry
James Edward Thomas Aldrich (68) of Eastbourne, admitted indecent exposure and having procured a male under the age of 16 to commit an act of gross indecency with him between 1 January and 31 December 1972 in Jersey, He was placed on probation for three years.

Well spotted Mac. With everyone's eyes on the elections, I wonder what else will slip under the radar?
I presume this individual will go on the UK sex offenders register. Do we have a register here yet?

As far as I know we still haven't got a sex offenders register yet.
What I'd like to know is what age the child was and to me probation is very lenient

anyone else notice the small snippet in the paper tonight ,about the gagging order placed on the media presumably to do with the "PinBall Wizard" article ? How convenient for them ,that they now can say we are "officially"unable to comment

I noticed that as well Bea, it certainly leaves me with a uneasy feeling as to the way things are going.

Could it be in order that the accused would then receive a fair trial? Does this order apply to the outside media?

I've read on SS Blog that Danny Wherry has escaped prosecution once more thanks to the AG.

I am still waiting for the perpetrators to be brought to justice. Why has it taken so long? People have told me that nothing will come of this, as it is too damning to come into the public domain.
The only way to draw a line under this is for everything to be above board and to be seen to be so. Is Jersey up to the task?

Is it just one gullible spokesperson, or do the whole group believe it?

It was said that Warcup was well known for helping a district out in the North of England where the council were in a position something like our government needing to cover up past histories etc. Everything went quiet from the time he arrived and shortly after he made statements to the fact that it was all lies and everything was very neatly put to bed. Our establishment saw that he was the man they needed. I believe Lenny knows what went on and who is in the frame or frames but not enough time to prove it and all the good work that he has done will be lost. Some little man will take the full weight and all the big fish will stay clean and no names will come out. If the police officers that had to leave the force because of wrong doings as said by Lenny, then if he is wrong i do not see any of these expolice suing for wrongful dismissal, do you? The establishment are just coming to terms with the fact that they can no longer keep things quiet and just control the news that gets out to the public when there is the internet. Their spin doctors are having to work overtime which will cost you and me more tax to pay.
